Doane Stuart Science students attend 6th Annual RNA Symposium

Doane Stuart Science students attended the 6th Annual RNA Symposium hosted by The RNA Institute at the University of Albany on Thursday March 22.

Students Maya Lautenberg (’19), Olaposi Peters (’19) and Caleb Karkari-Mensah (’20) accompanied Dr. David Wells to the symposium to hear talks by researchers from Yale University, the University of Rochester and UMASS Medical School. Dr Craig Mello (UMASS Med) gave the Keynote address which included background on the research that resulted in him sharing the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2006. Held at UAlbany’s Performing Arts Center, the RNA Institute’s Symposium was entitled The Language of RNA in Disease and Development. It brought together scientific experts, students and industry professionals who conduct basic, applied and translational research in RNA. The RNA Symposium provides a forum for faculty, students and industry representatives to present their findings and network with colleagues.
