Diplomat and Alumnus Matt Smith ’86 Visits Doane Stuart

Doane Stuart welcomed alumnus Matt Smith ’86 to speak to our Upper and Middle School students. Matt entered the Foreign Service in 2000 and, in January 2017, was promoted to the Senior Foreign Service.

Most recently, Matt was the Deputy Chief of Mission in Cameroon, where he was knighted by Sultan El Hajj Ibrahim Mboumbou Njoya of the Bamoun people of Cameroon, and was given royal robes, collar, sword, bell and the title of Nji (royal advisor to the Sultan).

In July, Matt will be moving to Japan for three years to work at the US Embassy as Minister-Counselor for Management.
