Fast Facts. Lasting Impact.
Founded on a tradition of excellence and guided by a spirit of discovery, The Doane Stuart School is a leading coeducational, college-preparatory, interfaith school in New York’s Capital Region. Here’s a snapshot of who we are and what sets us apart.
Experiential Learning
At Doane Stuart, we provide learning that takes place both inside and outside the classroom.
Independent Course Studies
Independent Course Studies begin as early as the sophomore year, academically driven students can engage a faculty mentor to support them in their study of a topic of their interest. Students can propose courses that span either one or two semesters.
International Travel
International Travel returned as a spring break option in 2025. Doane Stuart has had a long tradition of broadening the student experience by expanding their world through travel. Students gain first hand knowledge of culture, geography, social mores and what it would be like to live in another place.
Community Service
Community Service and social responsibility are central to the student experience and to students’ development as good humans. Upper School students are required to complete 100 hours of community service prior to graduation (25 hours per school year).
Beyond Doane Stuart
Preparation for Life beyond Doane Stuart begins the first day that the student arrives. Our rigorous academic curriculum challenges learners to stretch themselves and push beyond their comfort zone. Our graduation requirements ensure that they are ready for college and our individualized approach to college placement ensures that they have options for their next chapter beyond Doane Stuart.
