At Doane Stuart, every senior participates in a Senior Internship Experience, a unique week-long placement designed to provide real-world exposure to potential career paths. This hands-on opportunity is a vital part of our students’ academic journey, preparing them for a smooth and successful transition into college, careers, and beyond.
The Senior Internship Experience immerses students in the daily operations of businesses and nonprofits in our local community. This experience helps students develop a strong work ethic, professional responsibility, and a deeper appreciation for community engagement. Before beginning their internships, students receive comprehensive training on workplace etiquette, professional communication, and expectations. This preparation ensures they enter their placements confident and ready to contribute meaningfully.
Being able to work at the Siena College Radio Station with professional equipment and student mentors was a wonderful experience that set me up for success. Not only did the internship help me in deciding my future career, but also strengthened my resume and jump started connections for me at college.”

My internship at Samaritan Hospital was an incredible experience. I spent most of my time in the ER, where I had the chance to shadow the amazing Dr. Vukovic and Dr. Paige.
Since I’m interested in going into medicine, it was fascinating to see how things work behind the scenes. I observed real procedures—including one where a patient had their chest opened—which was intense but very educational. While I’m still figuring out whether a hospital setting is right for me long-term, this experience gave me valuable insight into the realities of the field. I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to explore it firsthand.”
