Lower School

AN ESSENTIAL FOUNDATION

Lower School students develop skills and achieve mastery in age-appropriate math, reading, writing, science, and social studies. Equally important, students develop the competence and confidence to use their new knowledge to experience the excitement of learning. They begin to look for patterns and connections, to think and explore, and to make sense of their world.

Classes in art, music, religion, technology, and physical education are essential to the curriculum. Library and computer resources provide tools that expand students’ horizons. Friday “Morning Meetings” bring all members of the Lower School together with family and friends to share stories, accomplishments, and thoughts of the past week. Led by 4th graders, these morning meetings provide an opportunity for public speaking for students in all grades.  4th graders continue to grow as leaders and public speakers by delivering the Lower School report to the entire school at our weekly All School Morning Meeting.
