Lower School STEAM Room Ribbon Cutting

Rensselaer, NY –  The Doane Stuart School is excited to announce the opening its new Lower School STEAM Room.  DS Friends and families are cordially invited to join us for the official ribbon cutting ceremony, which will be held in the Blue Pod on Thursday, October 6 from 4-5:30. Attending the ribbon cutting will be Congressman Paul Tonko, Assemblyman John McDonald, Rensselaer Mayor Dan Dwyer, Rensselaer Councilman James Casey, and Gabrielle Polce of the Rensselaer County Chamber of Commerce.  The ribbon cutting will begin promptly at 4:00 with refreshments to follow.

The new STEAM program is for our youngest students and will focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. We have added small machines, magnifying glasses, microscopes, an incline board, light table and even a mammoth water table that has working locks – all this and more to encourage understanding of our physical world and to promote systems thinking in our youngest students. We strongly believe that effective problem-solving starts in Early Childhood. Many schools offer STEM programs for Upper School and even Middle School students – we will be one of the only schools in the Capital Region that will have this type of program for 3-year-old students and up.
