Partner Organizations
Doane Stuart is small by intent, small by design. The size of our school does not minimize opportunities, but maximizes the chance for each student to realize the benefits of small classes and a student to faculty ratio of 7 to 1. Through community outreach, Doane Stuart students have opportunities available to them beyond those that can be offered in a classroom. Doane Stuart students have found these unique opportunities to be invaluable experiences.
Below are brief descriptions of the exceptional opportunities available to our students through Doane Stuart's partnerships, making us a small school with a truly wide reach:
University at Albany
Juniors and Seniors at Doane Stuart may enroll in courses at the University at Albany, our area's largest research university. These courses may be taken for either high school or college credit. The UAlbany courses supplement the already broad and rigorous curriculum offered at Doane Stuart. Students benefit not only from taking university courses, but also from enrolling in classes that are often larger than, and different from, the seminar-style classes offered at Doane Stuart. This gives our students a broad range of pedagogical experiences.
Albany College of Pharmacy
Rising Juniors and Seniors may participate in a summer opportunity that allows students to work, two-to-one, with a college professor doing independent scientific research. This provides experience in a true research process, from hypothesis through actual scientific journal submission.
Northern Ireland Exchange
Doane Stuart has partnered with Lagan College, the oldest Catholic/Protestant merged school in Northern Ireland. Doane Stuart hosts Catholic and Protestant students from Lagan College, to demonstrate how Doane Stuart, the only successfully merged Catholic and Protestant school in the United States, celebrates different faiths.
Albany Institute of History and Art
Currently, students make use of the museum collections for their nursery through Grade 12 studies. Upper School art history students offer Gallery Talks based on their research and analysis of works of art in the museum's collection. Middle and Upper School students often assist in welcoming guests to the Institute's exhibits openings and special events.
National Association of Episcopal Schools
Doane Stuart is a proud member of the National Association of Episcopal Schools. Doane Stuart’s relationship with this outstanding institution not only represents our history, but our commitment to our interfaith identity.
Kenwood Convent of the Sacred Heart
The Kenwood Convent and Doane Stuart share our beautiful campus. The Convent houses the retired Religious of the Sacred Heart, who have a special relationship with Doane Stuart students. While none of them teach at Doane Stuart, the Sisters, former teachers, deans and college presidents, enjoy their time with our students, particularly in the “Reading Buddies Program” with our youngest students.
