Election 2016 at Doane Stuart

On Tuesday, November 8, the Golub Interfaith Chapel became the polling center for the Middle and Upper School. Mr. Wheaton and his Government class led a special chapel to coincide with the 2016 election. Ben Halpert ‘17 of Delmar delivered an opening prayer, followed by a beautiful rendition of the “Star-Spangled Banner” performed by Alex Sautter-Walker ‘21 of Rensselaer and Mr. Weaver. Mr. Wheaton then provided a brief introduction to the program.

Students in Mr. Wheaton’s class prepared and delivered speeches outlining the four major candidates’ platforms. Sam Lu ‘17 of China represented Hillary Clinton, Serafina Yang ‘17 of China represented Jill Stein, Mitchell Rigley ‘17 of Schenectady represented Gary Johnson and Jack Ross-Pilkington ‘17 of Stuyvesant Falls represented Donald Trump.

Students and faculty then were asked to vote for the candidate that best represented their views and values. The result of the election is as follows.
