Doane Stuart Art Teacher Featured in Hollywood Coaster Show

Doane Stuart Art Teacher Jason Blue Lake Hawk Martinez (father of Isabella ’20) had four pieces featured in the 3rd Annual Coaster Show, held at the La Luz De Jesus Gallery in Hollywood, CA.  Jason’s work, which sold during the exhibition, was on display September 4-27.  The exhibition (visit http://laluzdejesus.com/the-3rd-annual-coaster-show-harold-fox/  to see the entire coaster collection of over 1000 pieces!) allows artists to explore the 4” round medium and create an incredible range of pieces that are “playful, frightening, experimental and surprising in their execution.”

Jason La Luz De Jesus Show

For Jason, this was a very meaningful experience: “I am honored to show at La Luz De Jesus gallery. It is the birthplace of Pop Surrealism.  The home of my creative Influences.  Showing in a significant space like this may launch me to the next stage of my painting career. “

A kachina is a spirit being found in western Pueblo native tradition.  Kachinas are represented by dancers at religious gatherings and ceremonies, as-well-as through wooden dolls, which are often given to children.  Jason’s Kachina drawings represent the four elements.
