Well, feasting on hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, chips, cookies and cupcakes… The Doane Stuart Back-to-School Barbecue has become a tradition—thanks to our many parents who organize, invite, bake and welcome. It’s an opportunity for parents, kids and teachers to connect, meet new friends, play and enjoy. Once again our trustee and parent Mona Golub (Ira ’15) provided grills, food and staff to cook and serve, aided by many parents and teachers; over 300 of us enjoyed a lovely night together and great eats.
Beyond socializing, our parents are important partners in the effort to make a most successful learning journey for our students. We are grateful for the trust our parents have placed in Doane Stuart, and we enjoy being partners in educating our (shared) children.
Further, we count on our parents to help us improve our program by voicing their observations and perspectives; by holding us all to a higher standard; by supporting our teachers; and by spreading the good word both about our philosophy of active learning and our insistence on respect for all. We are lucky to have the region’s best parents, and we are grateful for all that they do!
