Applying to Doane Stuart

Doane Stuart maintains a rolling admission policy. Because of this, the following required components of the Application may be received in any order, at any time, although the earliest possible completion of the process is highly recommended:

  • Submission of an Admission Application.
  • $75 nonrefundable application fee.
  • Submission of Confidential Recommendation Form from an English/Classroom Teacher. (This may not pertain to students applying to the Early Childhood Program.)
  • Submission of Confidential Recommendation Form from a Counselor/Principal. (This may not pertain to students applying to the Early Childhood Program.)
  • Submission of an official school transcript. The Record Release Form is to be completed and given to the student’s current school’s Guidance Office. The student’s transcripts are then forwarded to Doane Stuart directly.
  • A Class Visit. Each prospective student visits the grade that he or she is currently in. This is a required part of the application process. Please contact the Admission Office to schedule a class visit.

          45 minute visit for students entering N, PreK, K, Grade 1 and Grade 2
          Two hour visit for students entering Grades 3, 4 or 5
          Half of a day for students entering Grades 6-12.

Students applying for admission during the summer months must meet with a member of the Admission team for an interview/evaluation.

Standardized testing

Students entering N, PreK, K and Grade 1 participate in interactive testing in the Admission Office. Older students will write an essay and may take standardized testing on campus, provide standardized testing scores taken within the last year, or submit results from SSAT testing.
